Temporal Dynamics of Subtle Cognitive Change: Validation of a User-Friendly Multidomain Digital Assessment Using an Alcohol Challenge

Participants were made aware that they could withdraw from the study at any time, and the means to do so was explained. Thirty healthy young adults (20 females and 10 males; aged 18-44 years, mean age 23 years, SD 6.8 years) were recruited from the student population at Ulster University. The sample size was determined using G*Power [39], with reference to previously published effect sizes from experiments that examined the effect of alcohol on similar cognitive tests [21,30].

Another participant added the following: So I’m also quite convinced that you would do something like that, because it would be really useful to build up your social contacts a bit, because the corona situation is ruining everything and that would be a solution to find yourself better again. In addition, participants recognized the platform’s potential for personal development, including working on individual weaknesses and achieving better grades in school.

For fatigue, it is even more notable that 1 EMA question inquires tiredness (ie, “How tired do you feel?” on a 1-4 scale), which captures the transient and momentary feeling of tiredness as a state. In contrast, the patient-reported outcome based on MFIS-5 questionnaire measures the impact of fatigue on cognitive and physical function over the preceding 2 weeks.

Research indicates that young children who attend high-quality ECE programs exhibit lower levels of behavioral problems and higher social competence compared to those who do not attend ECE programs [1,4]. ECE teachers in high-quality ECE programs can act as a protective factor by supporting young children’s burgeoning social-emotional development, thus preventing challenging behaviors [1,5].

Another participant in Chicago stated the following: Yeah, if it’s orange I wanna do something to get it to go up (to green). But if it’s red you might think you are going to have to make drastic lifestyle changes to get out of the red zone. Participants thought that seeing the score could help motivate a change in behavior, as a participant from Tampa stated the following: Seeing the score would be good to motivate you to maybe change your life, or your habits, so you can increase your score.
