Pain Assessment Tools for Infants, Children, and Adolescents With Cancer: Protocol for a Scoping Review

Pain Assessment Tools for Infants, Children, and Adolescents With Cancer: Protocol for a Scoping Review

Self-report is the gold standard for pain assessment [12], and a 2015 report by Wolfe-Christensen et al [13] found that 99% of children older than 13 years and 96% of children aged 7-12 years can reliably self-report pain. Conversely, children express pain differently depending on their developmental stage and cognitive abilities, requiring the use of differing tools for pain assessment.

Spread and Scale of the Integrated Nutrition Pathway for Acute Care Across Canada: Protocol for the Advancing Malnutrition Care Program

Spread and Scale of the Integrated Nutrition Pathway for Acute Care Across Canada: Protocol for the Advancing Malnutrition Care Program

This pathway is an algorithm based on minimum clinical practice standards required for prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition for patients admitted to medical and surgical units and is a means to standardize nutrition care practices related to screening, assessment, interventions and follow-up [14,22,23]. Overview of malnutrition care initiatives by the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force. INPAC: Integrated nutrition pathway for acute care.

Emerging Indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment: Registry Cohort Study

Emerging Indications for Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment: Registry Cohort Study

Therefore, gathering outcome data on HBO2 treatment has been limited, and often, only case reports or small case series are available to support its use. In addition, practice patterns differ across centers, and some centers may use HBO2 successfully for an indication that other centers may not consider it for.

A Stable and Scalable Digital Composite Neurocognitive Test for Early Dementia Screening Based on Machine Learning: Model Development and Validation Study

A Stable and Scalable Digital Composite Neurocognitive Test for Early Dementia Screening Based on Machine Learning: Model Development and Validation Study

We also performed external validation with the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative phase 3 (ADNI-3) cohort, which is ethnically different from the CN-NORM cohort. CN-NORM was led by the Dementia Care & Research Center, Peking University Institute of Mental Health (Sixth Hospital), China. Participants were consecutively recruited for CN-NORM from August 28, 2019, to November 1, 2022. CN-NORM was a multicenter study conducted by 7 hospitals in China.

An After-Hours Virtual Care Service for Children With Medical Complexity and New Medical Technology: Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

An After-Hours Virtual Care Service for Children With Medical Complexity and New Medical Technology: Mixed Methods Feasibility Study

I ended up taking my daughter to the emergency department for a complication that could have been avoided entirely and virtually managed at home with video calling support. At the Hospital for Sick Children (Sick Kids), Canada’s largest pediatric hospital, over 3000 CMC-TD are discharged each year to home who have an ongoing need for specialized home and community care [13,14].

Assessing How Risk Communication Surveillance Prompts COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance Among Internet Users by Applying the Situational Theory of Problem Solving: Cross-Sectional Study

Assessing How Risk Communication Surveillance Prompts COVID-19 Vaccine Acceptance Among Internet Users by Applying the Situational Theory of Problem Solving: Cross-Sectional Study

Health officials suggested 4 shots in a 2-dose series or 2 single-dose series vaccines to be “fully vaccinated” against severe COVID-19 illness. As of August 23, 2022, 4.92 billion people (63.1%) have received COVID-19 vaccines [1]. On August 23, 2022, the WHO reported over 5 million new COVID-19 cases, and 13,914 deaths were reported a week prior. This prognosis alarmed resource-limited nations with health care concerns.

Monitoring the Implementation of Tobacco Cessation Support Tools: Using Novel Electronic Health Record Activity Metrics

Monitoring the Implementation of Tobacco Cessation Support Tools: Using Novel Electronic Health Record Activity Metrics

Clinical practice guidelines recommend routine screening for tobacco use and referral to evidence-based cessation interventions in patients with cancer [17,18], but this practice is underused [19]. To address this practice gap, the NCI’s Beau Biden Cancer Moonshot program launched the Cancer Center Cessation Initiative (C3 I) in 2017 to provide funding to NCI-designated cancer centers to implement or enhance their tobacco treatment services [20].

Development of an Open-source and Lightweight Sensor Recording Software System for Conducting Biomedical Research: Technical Report

Development of an Open-source and Lightweight Sensor Recording Software System for Conducting Biomedical Research: Technical Report

These circumstances are especially relevant for researchers conducting early stage research (eg, feasibility studies) or with limited resources. Buying a complete sensor system with all devices and applications from a single vendor is not always a viable option either technically or economically. An alternative strategy, developing a dedicated data acquisition system for every research question that relies on sensing devices, can also be impractical in the context of research.

Engagement, Use, and Impact of Digital Mental Health Resources for Diverse Populations in COVID-19: Community-Partnered Evaluation

Engagement, Use, and Impact of Digital Mental Health Resources for Diverse Populations in COVID-19: Community-Partnered Evaluation

For secondary analyses, we examined predictors of hotline use and any behavioral health services use (outpatient, inpatient, rehabilitation, hotlines) in the month before follow-up; an imputed version of inpatient/rehabilitation was used for sensitivity analysis, assigning 0 if the items were skipped but other use items answered. We initially examined all measures as predictors in bivariate analyses, including predictors of follow-up nonresponse.
