Mitochondrial Fitness Science Communication for Aging Adults: Prospective Formative Pilot Study

Mitochondrial Fitness Science Communication for Aging Adults: Prospective Formative Pilot Study

and (2) Can the Mito Fit prototype intervention and data collection protocol be feasibly implemented with community-dwelling adults over a 1 month period? We hypothesized that the Mito Fit videos would be acceptable (4 out of 5 on a Likert scale), that the Mito Fit prototype intervention would be feasible (4 out of 5 on a Likert scale), and that our Mito Fit approach using science communication and simple instructions would result in “self-initiation” of an exercise routine (≥70%) over a 1-month period.

Virtual Reality–Based Executive Function Rehabilitation System for Children With Traumatic Brain Injury: Design and Usability Study

Virtual Reality–Based Executive Function Rehabilitation System for Children With Traumatic Brain Injury: Design and Usability Study

The tethered VR systems include a headset that is physically or wirelessly connected to a computer. A high-quality headset connected to a powerful gaming PC tends to provide the most immersive VR experience because of the high tracking accuracy and superior graphics quality. Console VR, which is currently limited to Playstation VR, offers features similar to PC-based systems. Unlike PC-based VR, Playstation VR is powered by a Sony Playstation 4 video game console.

Electronic Patient Portal Access, Retention in Care, and Viral Suppression Among People Living With HIV in Southeastern United States: Observational Study

Electronic Patient Portal Access, Retention in Care, and Viral Suppression Among People Living With HIV in Southeastern United States: Observational Study

Importantly, qualitative studies have demonstrated the acceptability of using patient portals to improve HIV care outcomes [16-18], and a study among US veterans found an association between electronic prescription refill through a patient portal and change from a detectable viral load to an undetectable viral load [19].

An Integrated, Scalable, Electronic Video Consent Process to Power Precision Health Research: Large, Population-Based, Cohort Implementation and Scalability Study

An Integrated, Scalable, Electronic Video Consent Process to Power Precision Health Research: Large, Population-Based, Cohort Implementation and Scalability Study

Patients typically waited for 10 to 15 minutes prior to a lab draw and were able to watch the 5-minute UCON video and complete the consent process. Lastly, patients who were consented in ambulatory clinics completed the consent process at a self-service kiosk or by using an i Pad before, during, or after a clinic visit.

Mobile Technology to Monitor and Support Health and Well-Being: Qualitative Study of Perspectives and Design Suggestions From Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

Mobile Technology to Monitor and Support Health and Well-Being: Qualitative Study of Perspectives and Design Suggestions From Patients Undergoing Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

While HCT is a potentially curative treatment for many cancers, it has significant morbidity and mortality rates [2]. HCT is a rigorous, strenuous, and time-intensive process that impacts patients’ psychological well-being and their overall quality of life [3].

Optimizing Patient Record Linkage in a Master Patient Index Using Machine Learning: Algorithm Development and Validation

Optimizing Patient Record Linkage in a Master Patient Index Using Machine Learning: Algorithm Development and Validation

In high-income countries, patient record fragmentation can result in medical errors, and linkage has a high cost [2,3]. The problem is particularly challenging in low- and middle-income countries, where patients do not necessarily have a unique identifier, such as Myanmar [4-6]. This challenge necessitates probabilistic record linkage, where a health care provider is given the opportunity to link multiple records from the same patient in a master index [7].

Remote Monitoring of Patients With Hematologic Malignancies at High Risk of Febrile Neutropenia: Exploratory Study

Remote Monitoring of Patients With Hematologic Malignancies at High Risk of Febrile Neutropenia: Exploratory Study

Thus, patients with febrile neutropenia represent a group in which there is ample opportunity for improved efficiency of care and more appropriate utilization of limited health care resources. Recent advances in technology have made it possible to monitor a patient’s key vital signs outside of a clinic or hospital setting.

Improving Surveillance of Human Tick-Borne Disease Risks: Spatial Analysis Using Multimodal Databases

Improving Surveillance of Human Tick-Borne Disease Risks: Spatial Analysis Using Multimodal Databases

The analytical objective in this study was to assess human TBD risk by employing a mixed methods approach using triangulation techniques and multimodal databases, geographically overlaying TBE reports to official data sources. Specifically, a web-based survey was conducted over a 15-month period beginning in December 2020 to collect data on TBEs.

mHealth Interventions for Treatment Adherence and Outcomes of Care for Cardiometabolic Disease Among Adults Living With HIV: Systematic Review

mHealth Interventions for Treatment Adherence and Outcomes of Care for Cardiometabolic Disease Among Adults Living With HIV: Systematic Review

Cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) represent a huge threat to the global progress that has been achieved in reducing mortality and morbidity among people living with HIV [1,2]. With the successes of antiretroviral therapies (ARTs), there has been increased life expectancy and a reduction in the burden of opportunistic infections among people living with HIV [3-5]. However, both HIV and ART are independently associated with an increased risk of CMD [6-8].
