Other reasons included “Intended to try it for a trial period and quit” (85/695, 12.2%), “No longer have time” (79/695, 11.4%), “Boredom” (67/695, 9.6%), “Found a better service elsewhere” (64/695, 9.2%), “High price” (56/695, 8.1%), “Dissatisfied with support” (53/695, 7.6%), “Decreased frequency of use” (52/695, 7.5%), “Improved symptoms” (45/695, 6.5%), and “Other” (30/695, 4.3%). Figure 1 compares current Io T and app users by perceived health problems and reasons for the use of Io T or apps in Japan.

The Efficacy of an mHealth App in Facilitating Weight Loss Among Japanese Fitness Center Members: Regression Analysis Study

Furthermore, we found that app use predicted more weight loss among those who used the gym more often. These findings suggest that health apps can play a crucial role in promoting weight loss among gym users, acting as a complementary tool that enhances the effects of physical exercise. These apps may facilitate adherence to exercise routines, offer consistent monitoring, and supplement gym activities with valuable dietary and lifestyle advice [18,19].

Polarized perceptions concerning the time and effort taken for web-based classes compared with the in-person model were identified, where 46.2% (n=18) of students found the web-based course was more time-consuming than the in-person classes. Most students (27/39, 69.2%) stated they did not have problems accessing the content web-based. In contrast, 1-quarter of the interviewed students encountered problems using technology to watch the web-based lecture.

Indeed, Lode et al [11] found that the main obstacles to vaccination among laypeople were scant awareness of vaccine availability, insufficient IPD risk perception, and lack of recommendation by general practitioners (GPs). The same research group [11] reported scant awareness of terms for pneumococcal diseases, with only 50% of GPs knowing the term IPD. Nichol et al [12] found that recommendation by a health care provider enhanced pneumococcal vaccine adherence among adults at risk of IPD.
